The Rolex Day-Date

This is written in the Rolex website: "In 1956, the Rolex Day-Date made its debut. Available only in 18k gold or platinum, it was the first wristwatch to display the date and day of the week spelt out in full in a window on the dial. With the President bracelet, originally created specially for it, the Day-Date continues to be the watch par excellence of influential people". This DD only was available in one size: 36mm. In 2007 a larger size was introduced. This DD came in many forms: bark, smooth bezel, moire, diamonds, wooden dial, stone dials, different bracelets - it was very hard to wear the same watch the neighbor did. New these DDs cost a fortune, second hand and certainly with plexi they are very affordable. Much watch for not so much cash. The DD has been, is and will be worn by big names, like Sonny Crocket, Tony Soprano, Klaas Bruinsma and Sylvie Meis.

Plexi 1803 Day-Date

The plexi models always have 4 digits (1803, 1802, 1804, 1806 etc) and plexiglass. These were made until around 1980. As far as we are concerned, the plexi Day-Date is the nicest DD. Of course it is gold and it stands out (especially in the yellow version) but it also bears witness to style and class. Not too big, not too fat. Just beautiful!

Sapphire glass (1)18038 Day-Date

With the arrival of sapphire glass, a figure was added (18038, 18239, 18048 for tree bark, etc.) and now it is the 118238s who are in charge. And they also get bigger and bigger, like the Day-Date II. The 40MM was launched in 2016, and that is actually the nicest size. For example, if you are taking a 40 mm white gold with a green plate: then you are doing well.
