Some Frequently Asked Q's

about Rolex watches and SUBGMT.

Rolex and Patek watches and buying and selling these online bring a lot of questions. Here some good and not so good questions we often get. If you have a question that needs to be in this section please let us know at:

What is the influence of the coronavirus (Covid-19) on our collective hobby of wearing and collecting Rolex or Patek Philippe watches? It can go two ways: the entire market can collapse or it will remain as it is now (March 2020). The market could collapse because priorities change, surviving and money problems are more important then enjoying watches. In addition, many people bought multiple watches to take advantage of value increases and returns (not always a good reason to buy watches, but we all do it). Now that the crisis is approaching or at least threatening, these people could offer all their watches with which the supply increases and with a decreasing demand (other prios - Chinese who no longer go on holiday) that will certainly lower prices. (Although it would be nice if everyone can buy a pepsi GMT or Daytona in the shop for list price soon!). But falling prices also means buying cheaper again - so that will be a positive thing.

On the other hand, all watch manufacturers are now closed, so nothing will come on the market in the near future. And we are at home all day and have nowhere to go, so it is nice to be able to enjoy your watch (hobby). And with a negative interest, collapsed stock market, the electric-driving-sword-of-Damocles above our hobby 911's, there is not much left to invest ...

I personally think it will be okay, a little correction is healthy but soon when everything is "normal" again we will enjoy everything twice because it is possible again and this threat has passed us and we still live!, until the next bump. If you think otherwise, please let me know
